“The event had its first edition in 2011 and since then has been held on a biennial basis. It is characterized by its multidisciplinarity, the presentation of scientific studies related to oncology, as well as the participation of companies exhibiting innovative products and services related to health care. In the first congress, we attained an audience of 900 participants, and in 2013 we received a total of 1,200 people. The 3rd edition, held in 2015, was particularly noteworthy, since in addition to the participation of 1,000 participants, the event also received the 1st RADIOLOGY WORKSHOP and the 1st MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONGRESS OF HEAD AND NECK ONCOLOGY. Another important landmark for oncology in the Amazon, in the same congress, was the formal creation of the Amazonas chapter of the Brazilian Society of Oncologic Surgery (SBCO). In 2017, the congress had 1180 participants, 102 scientific papers were presented and 153 speakers gave 122 lectures.
OBJECTIVE OF THE CONGRESS
The PAN-AMAZONIAN ONCOLOGY Congress aims to foster technical and management discussions on topics related to oncology. It is an event with a transdisciplinary characteristic, since the cancer patient should be aided by multidisciplinary teams that cover social care, nursing, clinical and surgical medicine, clinical laboratory, pharmacotherapeutic follow-up, psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy, speech therapy, imaging, radiotherapy and palliative care.
