Foundation Center for Amazonas State Oncology Control – FCECON

Founded in 1974 as the Oncology Center (CECON), in 1989 the hospital was transformed into the Foundation Center for Amazonas State Oncology Control (FCECON), and is now about to turn 40. It brings together several medical specialties and the main oncological treatments, a factor that consolidated the institution as a referral center for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer throughout the Western Amazon. In addition to the renowned clinical staff, the Foundation also stands out for its work developed in the areas of Prevention, Teaching and Research, which have been significantly expanded in recent years, with the increase in the number of campaigns to combat disease, and research involving scholars and doctors, thereby strengthening the this area of science in the State. In the assistance of patients, the institution has periodically trained its team, which includes doctors, nurses, nursing, radiology and radiotherapy technicians, via courses, lectures and activities developed at FCECON premises, as well as focusing on actions aimed at humanization.
